Kapa Haka festival

 

On Tuesday we had the Kapa Haka festival 

I enjoyed the Haka because when it started it gave me shivers down my arms. 

I found keeping in time because the leaders were going a bit fast but overall it was fun.

Guy Fawkes

 Last Saturday was the day after Guy Fawkes. 

Once it was dark the fireworks were going off around the neighbourhood. 

The worst thing about fireworks is that they scare the animals

The next night after Guy Fawkes my dogs were freaking out.

They were shaking like there was a massive earthquake.

One of my dogs Bella keeped running around the house like a mad Rat.

My other dog Rock keeped spewing, I even stepped in it once or twice.

It was DISGUSTING.

Me and my mum took the dogs into my room to calm them down

 by giving them head rubs and tummy rubs.

Later we went back into the living room because we were watching 

“Back to the Future” then the fireworks started going

the hard work you have done. Thank-you for helping me 

when I rolled my ankle. My ankle is a bit better now that

I am walking on it. 

One of my highlights from the camp trip was the Flying Fox. 

It was so fun but it was nerve racking at the start of your first

time you went on it, from the top platform it looked so high up.

When you come down it feels way faster than what it looks.

So thank-you for coming and being so nice

and helping when I rolled my ankle it was very kind of you.

This week we were learning about all souls day.

I enjoyed doing this flower for my poppa because he has passed away and this is a nice poster to remember him.

I did not find anything hard because we had to trace around the flower with polyline.

Chinese Language week 2020

 

This week is Chinese Language week so we have been learning different words and phrases in mandarin.

I found it hard to pronounce the mandarin words because in New Zealand we use English. 

I enjoyed seeing what my name was in mandarin because sometimes they can be close to your name and some can be far different.

  

Information Report Poster

 

This term my class has been learning about creatures of the world.

I did not find anything hard because we could get some facts from our report about the same animal.

I enjoyed animating the pictures because there were lots of different animations.

Catholic Social Teaching Digital Challenge

 

This week my class was learning about CST (Catholic Social Teaching) because it was the whole school task to learn about CST.

I found writing the things for the question How do you show CST each day? because it was a hard question.

I enjoyed animating the word boxes, the title and the saint marys pitucher.

 

Sacraments of initiation rap

This term my class has been learning how to make a rap about the sacraments of initiation.

I found writing about the sacraments of initiation hard because not many words of the Sacraments of initiation rhyme.

I enjoyed singing the rap because it was really catchy.

Next time i would change some of the sentences because some of the sentences do not make sense           

What Does It Mean To Agree To Disagree?

 Agreeing to disagreeing means that you don't agree to someone in a nice way. Trying to tell your friend that you don't think that spider-man is the best superhero in the world, well just think how can you tell your friend that you disagree with them? Maybe You could say I disagree with you but would that make them feel very good? If I were going to tell my friend that spider-man is not the best superhero I would say I agree to disagree. Sometimes disagreeing can led to arguments and then can led to not being friends. So that is why we should say I agree to disagree 

Information Report About Reef Manta Rays

Manta Birostris is the family name of the largest species of Manta ray In the world. The second species of Manta ray is Manta Alfredi  Reef Manta ray. Baby Manta rays are called pups sort of like baby puppies, goats, seals, otters, wolves and many other animals. Manta rays are at the bottom of the food chain, that means that lots of animals eat them like sharks, orcas and also humans. I know right how cruel can humans be. The Manta rays eyes are on the side of the head.

Reef Manta rays are filter feeders so they feed on zooplankton and krill. Reef Manta rays are the smallest of the Manta ray species. An adult Reef Manta ray can grow up to 5 meters long just like 5, one meter rulers. Reef Manta rays can weigh up to 1300 kgs, almost as much as a grand piano.  

Reef Manta rays are found in tropical and subtropical Waters. Mantas are also found in warm waters of the Pacific and Indian oceans. They have been recorded in North Carolina and the North Island of New Zealand to the South Island. Manta rays prefer water temperatures above 20 Celsius.

Reef manta rays are highly intelligent, highly threatened by people. Mantas open their mouths to catch their food while they swim. They swim at a constant rate in a straight line. I think that we need Reef Manta rays so that zooplankton and krill don't fill up our oceans. I also think that we need manta rays because they are the birds of the ocean.

Collage Animal's

 

In Room 2 we have been making collage animals for our artwork for the art exhibition. The art exhibition is a place where you can buy different artwork, which we are fundraising for our school camp at the end of the year. But unfortunately it will be online because of covid 19.At first I was learning about tracing, outlining and blending, Second I was learning about how to shred, and use PVA glue to make the background for the artwork, Third I was learning how to use paint to make the face shape of the cat that I was making.   

I enjoyed making the cat because it was so fun making it with my friends and because art is my favorite subject. 

I found it challenging to get my flicks right around the shape of the face because it was hard to flick with my paintbrush. 

My digital learning shows that I know how to make a collage so I can fit all of my pictures onto my screen. 

Next time I would change the flicks on my artwork because they are a bit thick.   

Rugby League Photo Collage

 On tuesdays my class goes to Rugby League practice. Turanga health are the people that teach us rugby league.We started off with a warm up like trunk twists, running on the spot and lots of cool games.  We were learning about passing the ball, side stepping and teamwork. I chose the photos because there is a mixture of boys and girls, the girls and the boys were playing separate. Turanga Health were helping us play rugby to be active and to get us moving to be healthy and strong.Rugby league teaches me to be active, confident, self controlling and to have fun within sports. 

In my digital learning object my class was learning how to make a photo collage. Smurf the slides, change the page setups to make it like a page and choose a bright colour for your background. To make a photo collage you need to insert your images. You want to use odd numbers of  photos because the photos will fit properly. Then you crop your photos into the places that you want and voilà... you have your photo collage.

Classification

A Weta is an insect that looks a bit like a giant Cricket or a Grasshopper. A Giant Weta can grow up to your normal house sparrow. Giant Weta are endangered to New Zealand, There only 7 spices of giant Wetapunga left in New Zealand.

Description

A Weta has a large head that has 2 antennae, the Weta uses the antennae to feel.Weta does not have noses on their head. But giant Weta have ears on their legs. There are over 70 species of small Weta all over the world.

Location/Habitat

Wetapunga lives all over New Zealand, some common Weta lives in caves, the ground, trees, and holes under bark or leaves.Weta live over the world in wet places. Weta have been around since the dinosaur age.

Dynamics 

Weta fertilizes the ground with their poop. Although Weta live all around the world

 there are very little of them because they are endangered. Weta are mostly active at 

night because they are nocturnal. I think that we need more Weta because they have been

 around for so long why let them go extinct now when they could live for much longer 

so our generations can know what they are. 

We need to protect them because they are so much more than insects they are apart of 

our environment, we need to treat them like all the other insects in the world not let them die out.  

No more tea parties

Today my reading group and I were learning about Analysing and synthesizing.

I enjoyed reading the book about it because it was very interesting and it has a lot of good facts about Tea party Chimpanzees.

I did not find much hard because the book had a lot of interesting facts.

Faith value challenge

This week my class was learning what faith is about and what it means. 

I enjoyed finding the images because there were a lot of good images.

I found nothing hard because it was really fun.

This week my Reading group was learning about Mahinga Kai Crusaders.

I enjoyed reading the book because it was very interesting.

I found what to write about hard because I didn't get it that much.

Today I was learning about interesting inferences.

I found getting the what is in the book hard because I could not think of anything.

 

Matariki Breakfast

"Delicious" whispered Rosie to me "yes" I replied. This morning it was our whole school Matariki breakfast that every class had in their classroom. I brought in doughnuts and For breakfast, there were lots of different foods that you could have like bacon, hash brown, pizza bread, fruit, pancakes, and lots more. "Ladies first" Miss Hickling announced. So all the girls rushed up to get the first pick. I got some bacon, hash brown, and pancakes.

  

Teeth

One icy cool morning the crystal clear blue water in the lake was flowing while the sun was shining with the morning light. The mountains curved in on the lake like a canyon in the desert. A little brown old dingy floated on the great big lake. Two men were in the dingy fishing for there family who do not have much money.

Survival in the bush

This week my class was doing a learn, create, share about our book that we  are reading in class called cuz.

I enjoyed choosing what to make because we could make anything we wanted.

I found the labels hard to do because you had to use text box then the line.

Next time I would change the background to make it look a bit more like grass because it dose not really look like grass. 

The Meaning of Transubstantiation

Transubstantiation

Means the wine and bread which is made out of Jesus's blood and body of christ. Which you use during Holy communion.

Today my class was making the Holy Trinity in google drawing.
I enjoyed using the Gradient for the word art because you could choose the colours.
I did not find much hard because it was pretty easy.
Next time I would make my Holy Trinity with a bit more detail.

Lockdown Recount

One sunny bright day In Lockdown level 2 I was at Lockdown school
I was thinking what had been going on. The last 2 terms have
been BORING we were stuck at home for so long that it felt
like I had done everything twice. Also it felt like the holidays
so I wanted to sleep in but there were school work that I had to do. 

After we had morning tea we got to go on the car park and go on our

Bikes, Scooters and Skateboards. It was so fun on my skateboard

because it is wobbly and that is why it was so entertaining. Another

amazing thing I was doing on my skateboard was skating backwards then

Josh pushing me on his scooter once I almost crashed into the curb.

After that I was holding onto Josh's Shirt and he was pulling me.

In the afternoon we finished off our poster that we painted for the

Essential Workers. We used really bright colours Red, orange, yellow

and the other colours. It looked so Awsome. We put it out on the
post that you could see outside of the office.

At the end of the day we went outside to play Zip Zap Zop

it was so exiting. we would usually play 3-4 rounds of Zip Zap Zop then

we would go on our wheels I went on my skateboard it was so fun.

And that is how my level 2 lockdown went.

This week we were doing a character map for the book we were reading Cuz.
I enjoy reading the book because it is very interesting how they got stuck in Milford Sound and there boat blew up.
I did not find anything hard because it was pretty easy.

NZ Music Month

Last month It was NZ Music Month. A month we New Zealanders celebrate for the music artists.
I enjoyed getting the pictures because they are my favourite artists.

Today I was learning about  science.
I enjoyed the experiments because it so fun.

This week my class was making posters of Jesus ascending to heaven.
I enjoyed changing the clouds colour because you go onto the format options and you can re-colour them.
I found getting the right picture of Jesus because there were not many png pictures of Jesus.

Write your own Mystery story

Monday 11th 10:30

Intro:Mrs A in her office well, Mrs C is not looking, she sneaked some lollies.
But one of the teachers saw but nobody knew who it was.
That Teacher went into the staffroom and put the wrappers in the bin but what
he\she did not know was that Angela and Charlotte saw the teachers hand.
Angela and Charlotte knew that 

Mrs A had lollies because she gave them one each. Mrs A told Miss Hickling,
Mrs B and the principal Mrs M that Mrs A had lollies. 

Suspects:

Interviewing:

My co-detective Josh and I gather the teachers in different rooms and
turn off the lights and shut the door. First we start off with Miss Hickling.

“Miss Hickling Where were you Monday 11th 10:30” I asked Miss Hickling.

 “I was in class teaching you” Miss Hickling said.

 “OK” I said in a mysterious voice.

 “One more thing Miss Hickling” Josh said, having a question. 

“ Yes,” Miss Hickling said.

“We are going to ask three more teachers,” Josh said.

 “Umm ok” Miss Hickling said. 

Josh and I walked out “she was teaching us but she seemed a
little bit suspicious hemm?” Josh said worried.

 “ I totally agree,” I said to him.

After that we got to the room that Mrs B was in “ let's go in Josh” I said to him.
“Yep” Josh Replied. 

“Mrs B where were you Monday 11th 10:30” Josh said.

 “I was getting the paper from the printer,” Mrs B said. 

“ Did you see anything?”

 I said to Mrs B she did not reply.  

“Humm I don't know about this” I said to Josh. 

“ Yeah she seems different,” Josh said. 

“Mrs B don't lie to us did you do it?” Josh said.

 “Mrs B we need a response” I said politely. “ We will come back to you later,”
I said.

We got to the room that Mrs M was in.

 “Come on, let's go,” I said to Josh. 

“Yep,” said Josh.

“Ok Mrs M what were you doing Monday 11th 10:30?” I said.

 “ I was in my office doing important computer work for school,” Mrs M said.

 “Also have you seen anybody around here?” I said.

 “ I only saw Mrs C and that is it because I had my door closed” Mrs M said.
“ Alright we will go back to Mrs B” Josh said.

“Mrs B were back,” Josh said.

 “ Mrs B did you steal the lollies from Mrs A” I said needing to hear an answer. 

“ I am so so so sorry I just couldn't help myself to looked so yummy,” Mrs B said. 

We solved the case

“Mrs A we found the teacher who stole your lollies it was Mrs B she is guilty” 

Josh and I said happy we found the thief.

 “ Just for that you can have two lollies each and five blessing beads”
Mrs A said in a relife. 

“Yessssss” Josh and I shouted.

Soon after Mrs B came into apolligise.

 “ I am sorry Mrs A I will not do that again ever. I learnt my lesson”
Mrs B said sorrily.

“ Thank you for apologizing,” Mrs A said.

Flappy Bird

Come and play my Flappy Bird game it was so fun to make.

Today My class and me were doing coding to make the game Flappy Bird.
I enjoyed Making the Flappy Bird game because we got to code it and make the computer do what we want it to do.
I found putting the link on my blog post because it was not working.
 

Yucky Bugs

1. There are bugs that kill the bad weeds
2. Birds eat bird poop of your deck.
3. There is a slug called the leaf slug that looks exactly like a leaf.
4. Daddy long legs eat white tails.
5. Daddy long legs have poison in them but when they bite you it doesn't hurt because there fangs are too small.

Today we were learning about why bugs are good for us. They have lots of nutrients in them so if you eat them then you will have a bit of energy.

I enjoyed finding the facts because the video had a lot of facts.

I did not find much hard because the video had lots of facts in it so it was easy.

   

Essential workers poster

Last week my class made this poster for the essential workers.

I enjoyed painting the poster because i like painting.

I found going by the edge hard because I sometimes I went over the lines.

   

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Today I was learning about reducing, reusing and recycling.
 I enjoyed embedding the images on my poster because i got to pick the pictures of the plastic that is bad for the earth.
I found putting the facts on to my poster hard because I had to go back and forth to see if I spelt it right.
Next time I would change the font of my word art because it looks a bit boring.
     

Marble Run

On Friday my class made a marble run.

I enjoyed making the marble run because we got to make the marble runs out of cardboard and lots of other stuff.

I found making Charlotte and me our marble run hard because we had to pin it up to the wall and it keeped falling down    

Famous Laundry Art

Today I was learning how to recreate a famous piece of artwork and I picked Johannes Vermeer.
I enjoyed making the piece of artwork because it was really fun.
I found finding the right thing for the mouth hard because I could of used a red piece of paper or a red piece of fabric I used 2 pieces of chalk.
Next time I would not change anything because I am happy with it.     

Billy's Bow

Today I made Billy a bow. I learnt how to use hot glue and how to get clean edges by folding them in.
I enjoyed making Billy his bow because it was a fun art and craft.
I found using the hot glue gun because it was so hot.
I do not know what I would change because I can't really change anything

Coding Bots

Today I was learning about how to use Coding Bots.
I enjoyed making the robot move.
I found not much hard because it was a bit easy.

RE Jesus template lesson 2

Today I was learning about ( When you respond to Jesus' invitations to be his friend you grow in holiness).
I enjoyed choosing the pictures because t got to pick them.
I did not find anything hard.
Next time I would change the colour of the words because it is a little bit dark. 

My Favourite Book

Today I wrote about my favourite book the Guinness World Records 2009. I enjoyed writing about my favourite book. I did not really find anything hard because it is my favorite book and I know a lot about it because i have read it lots of times.   

 

My Circuit Construction Kit

Today I learnt how to light up the lights with a online circuit game.

I enjoyed making the circuit because we had to make the lights glow.

Next time I would change my circuit because the lights need to be bigger and better.    

Distance Writing Book

Today I was writing in my online writing book for school.
I enjoyed writing all of my family's profiles in my  except for my dads because he was at work today so I did not know if all of the things i put down on my dads Profile is correct or not.
I found it hard to do my dads profile because my dad is at work.

Lighting up the sky with raspberry pi

I learnt that a computer can light up lights.

I enjoyed answering the questions because I got all of them right.

I found reading hard because it was a long book.

Lest We Forget

This afternoon my parents and I put up all of our 28 poppies and before we put up our poppies my mum made the words LEST WE FORGET out of card.

I enjoyed putting up the poppies because we got to hang them on the fence and on the lamp light post and mail box.

I found making the poppies difficult because you had to cut out a shape like a heart then you had to trace around it lots of times cut them out then stick them together.

My Fort

This afternoon I made a tent fort for sleeping in and that I am going to sleep in tonight.

I enjoyed making the fort with the chairs the blankets the pillows and many more things.

I found putting in the lights difficult because me and my mum tried to peg them up but that did not 

work so my mum tried a different way and it worked.

Next time I would change some of the pillows because some of them were a bit stinky. 

My Home Obstacle Course

Today I made an obstacle course out of things I had at home.

I enjoyed running threw the obstacle course because it was fun going under the things and 

going over them to.

I found, finding things to make the obstacle course with hard because we don't really have things to do an obstacle course but I got there in the end.

  

ANZAC Puzzle

                                                   

Today one of our lessons for school was to make this puzzle.

I enjoyed making the outside pieces of the puzzle because they were the easiest.

I found putting the inside pieces the most challenge because I keep getting them muddled up.

   

Paper Plane Prayer

Today at home I made a paper plane prayer for my parents friend Roland who lives 

in Arizona USA. I also wrote to the people who are sick with Coronavirus.

I enjoyed making the paper plane because when I was 8 years old my dad taught me how to make a

paper jet.

I found spelling some of the words challenging because I did not know how to spell

Coronavirus or Arizona.

Next time I would add some more writing to the top prayer.         

ANZAC poster

I enjoyed watching the video because it had lots of interesting facts.

I found it challenging to do the Why question because it did not really say

ANZAC Tree

1.Philip lived on a big farm with all his animals, his mum, his dad,
Percy and Roy.

2.Percy and Roy planted a tree each before they went to war.

3.Toffy and Phillip hide under the veranda Toffy does not know that Percy
is never coming home.Percy's Tree died.

4.Kenneth's dad went away to fight in the war.

Kenneth likes to sit under his uncle Roy's tree and wait for his dad to come
home.

5.Sophie likes to go up to the pine tree to think about her dad who is
fighting in Korea.

6.Emily watched kevin’s birthday number get pulled out on tv. The letter arrived

saying that he had to fight in the war in Vietnam.  

7.Chris’s cousin Jenny went to Iraq with the navy. He saw his cousin Jenny
in the parade. After the parade they went up to the farm and had a picnic under
the tree that his grampa’s uncle Roy planted.  

8.Jack’s dad went away to Afghanistan with the army reserve he is back
now and it was ANZAC day everyone was going to the farm for a special
fermasand picnic under the tree that his great great grandfather Roy
planted 100 years ago. He stands on top of the hill and imaging
would look like when Roy and Percy planted their trees
